Friedrich Seitz (June 12, 1848 – May 22, 1918) was a German Romantic composer and violinist. He was born in Günthersleben-Wechmar, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, and studied music at the Frankfurt Conservatory. He worked as a violinist in several orchestras, including the Sondershausen Court Orchestra and the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He also taught violin and composition. Seitz composed chamber music, orchestral music, and vocal music. His music is characterized by its lyrical melodies, harmonic richness, and virtuosic instrumental writing.
Seitz's music is still performed today by chamber ensembles and orchestras around the world. He is considered one of the most important composers of the German Romantic period.
