Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695 – 8 March 1764) was an Italian Baroque composer and violinist. He was born in Bergamo, Italy, and studied music with his father, Giovanni Battista Locatelli. He later studied with Giuseppe Tartini in Padua.
Locatelli was a highly skilled violinist, and he was known for his virtuosity. He was also a prolific composer, and he wrote over 100 works for the violin, including sonatas, concertos, and chamber music. His music is characterized by its technical difficulty and its expressive melodies.
Locatelli was a popular and respected composer during his lifetime. He was known as "the Paganini of the Baroque". He died in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1764.
