Ferde Grofe was an American composer and pianist. One of his most famous works is his Grand Canyon Suite for orchestra. He is also the composer who orchestrated Gershwin's Rhapsodie in Blue for piano and orchestra. It is Grofe's version that we hear in concert halls today. Gershwin originally scorred it for two pianos. He composed a large number of works in many different styles.
Grofe also composed music for movies.
